16TH COMMANDING OFFICER OF 8 VIR ASSUMES DUTIES

Major SHRG De Silva RSP psc assumed duties as the 16th Commanding Officer of 8th Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment on 04th September 2024. A brief ceremony was held which included religious observances, planting of a tree sapling and a troop address.

Major SHRG De Silva RSP psc has joined the Sri Lanka Army as an officer cadet of Sri Lanka Military Academy to the Regular Intake 60 on 12th July 2004. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant on 23nd December 2006 and was posted to the 8th Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment.

During his illustrious military career he rendered his service in various command, staff and instructor and performed effectively, serving almost all operational areas, various headquarters and training establishments.

All officers and Other Rankers of the 8th Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment extended warm wishes to the newly appointed Commanding Officer.
