In keeping with the necessity of ensuring smooth functionality that streamlining the effective administrative operations, Major General K V N P Premaratne RSP USP nps psc, the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, paid an official visit to the 2 Sri Lanka Rifle Corps (2 SLRC) on 15 November 2025.
The military formalities were reviewed with a Guard Turnout awarded by the troops of 2 SLRC. Upon arrival, the Commandant SLAVF was warmly received by Lieutenant Colonel T M D D Megolla RWP RSP psc SLLI, the Commanding Officer of the 2 SLRC.
Following the initial formalities, during a constructive forum dedicated, the Commanding Officer - 2 SLRC delivered a detailed overview on the current undertakings and operational activities of the corps.
Arriving at the core feature of the visit: the troop address, the Commandant stressed the importance of self-realization: Who am I? Why am I here? What am I supposed to do? in order to perform one’s role successfully, both in military and civil contexts, thereby contributing to an effective working environment. As mutual respect is a fundamental element of military harmony, all personnel must honour and respect the duties and roles entrusted to others. He further emphasized the importance of valuing every task and striving to become pioneers in one’s respective field of employability, while upholding accountability and responsibility in all duties.
Throughout life, individuals are shaped by various guiding principles, and he highlighted the need to uphold the principle that “In the Absence of Caring, Anarchy Begins” Therefore, it is imperative to continuously elevate the military stance by nurturing the core essences of military professionalism, discipline, and unwavering commitment.
Following the event sequence, a sapling was planted by the Commandant, SLAVF, to commemorate his visit to the battalion. Concluding the visit, the Commandant undertook a camp visit and recorded a note of appreciation in the visitors’ book, recognizing the efforts and dedication of the personnel of the battalion.
The event was attended by the Principal Staff Officer SLAVF, Brigadier Coordinating Officer of the Security Forces Headquarters (Central), Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks representing the Headquarters SLAVF and the 2 SLRC.
