ENHANCING MILITARY EMPLOYABILITY THROUGH TRAINING

The assurance of military employment through continuous training is a key factor that strengthens the administrative operations of the Volunteer Force. A two-day training programme (Stage Two) for the officers of second-in-command conducted under the guidance of Major General K V N P Premaratne RSP USP nps psc, the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF), was successfully concluded on 04 November 2025 at the Headquarters, SLAVF.

The workshop (Stage Two) commenced on 03 November 2025 with the participation of the nominated senior officers serving as second-in-command. In a thought-provoking opening keynote address, the Commandant, SLAVF, reaffirmed the primary objective of enhancing both administrative skills and operational efficiency among these officers, while warmly welcoming all participants.

This workshop has been thoughtfully organized with the intention of strengthening administrative, training, and relevant legislative considerations essential for effective command and control of the volunteer battalions. The true value of this workshop stemmed from the interactive session dedicated to addressing the ongoing matters at the Volunteer Battalions. Through this session, participants were given the opportunity to gain practical insights and approaches to overcome challenges encountered in both administrative and operational duties.

A special homage is paid to Brigadier B J Lekamge RSP KSP – Inspector of Training, Colonel B C K Ferdinandez USP - Colonel Legal, Lieutenant Colonel H A C K Hettiaracchchi CES - Colonel (Engineer), Lieutenant Colonel J A M A I Gunasekara SLAGSC - Staff Officer 1 (Audit), Major W A J M Weerasinghe Lsc ato – Second-incommand of the 1 Regiment Sri Lanka Army Ordinance corps for generously sharing their knowledge and serving as resource persons throughout the workshop.

In recognition of the excellence of senior officers who have successfully completed the training programme, certificates were awarded for the participants. The occasion was graced by Brigadier P M S Karunaratne psc - Principal Staff Officer, Brigadier K G U T Jayasinghe - Brigadier Logistics, Senior Officers and Officers of the Headquarters, SLAVF.
