THE FOREFRONT OF WELFARE; ARMY BENEVOLENT FUND

An insightful lecture on the Army Benevolent Fund was conducted during the training day, under the directions of Major General K V N P Premaratne RSP USP nps psc – the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) on 08 October 2025 at the Headquarters SLAVF.

The lecture was conducted by Lieutenant Colonel W A K T Wickramasinghe USP of the Directorate of Army Benevolent Fund. The Directorate, originally established for the benevolence of the Sri Lanka Army, stands at the forefront of welfare of Army personnel.

During the session, the role of the fund was elaborated on uplifting the welfare and financial security of the Army personnel. In particular, the benefits available to members and the procedures for accessing assistance were significantly highlighted while spelling out the responsibility of individuals to maintain accurate documentation for the smooth processing.

The programme further provided a platform for participants to raise concerns and clarify issues related Army Benevolent Fund. This interactive approach enhanced their understanding of the Fund’s operations and the advantages extended to its members.

The awareness programme was attended by all ranks of the Headquarters SLAVF. In addition, a large military gathering serving at military establishments under the SLAVF joined the lecture via zoom technology.
