The Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) as the succeeding counter part of the Sri Lanka Amy assures the quality enhancement of volunteering in all aspects. The Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force Training School (SLAVFTS) standing under the patronage of the Volunteer Force is designated as the utmost training provider for the aspiring ranks and files who join the Sri Lanka Army.
In culmination of one of the distinguished academic programmes in the SLAVFTS, trainees who have successfully completed Administrative Assistant Course No. 91 to 95 were ceremonially awarded the National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) under the patronage of Major General K V N P Premaratne RSP USP nps psc, the Commandant SLAVF on 29 August 2025 at the Headquarters SLAVF.
The SLAVFTS thus facilitates NVQ qualifications accredited by the Tertiary & Vocational Education Commission (TVEC) under diverse disciplines for the professional enhancement of the serving members. The Administrative Assistant Course recognized as a key qualification awarded by the SLAVFTS covers essential skills in managing official correspondences, to assist effective office administration within the establishment.
Following the scheduled formalities, the initial segment of the ceremony was compiled with a comprehensive introduction to the study programme delivered by Colonel J A J Jayarathne KSP - the Commandant SLAVFTS. Afterwards, under several phases, NVQ certificates were awarded by the invited dignitaries for the trainees. A key note that emphasized the significance of the NVQ was made by Dr. K A Lalithadeera - the Director General of the TVEC during the programme.
The occasion was attended by Major General W M N K D Bandara RWP RSP USP ndu psc - the Director General Training, Mr. J Indika- Deputy Director of the Vocational Training , Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks who represented the Headquarters SLAVF and the SLAVFTS. A homage is offered to the organizing committee for successful conclusion of the ceremony and Army Band & Performing Arts for their integration in adding a glamour to the programme.
