MAJOR GENERAL B M R J BANDARA VISITS THE 1ST BATTALION OF THE SRI LANKA ARMY PIONEER CORPS

Major General B M R J Bandara, the Deputy Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, paid an official visit to the 1 ^st Battalion of the Sri Lanka Army Pioneer Corps ( 1 SLAPC) on 19 June 2025.

The visit was scheduled with the objective of enhancing and streamlining the administrative and operational functions of the battalion.

On arrival, the Deputy Commandant was accorded with a Guard Turnout, and he was warmly received by Major A M A P Abeysinghe USP psc, the Commanding Officer of the 1 SLAPC. As a mark of respect for the fallen war heroes, the Senior Officer laid a floral wreath at the war memorial, honoring the velour of the combatants of this prestigious Regiment.

Following the initial formalities, in a session dedicated for a constructive forum for a briefing, the Commanding Officer of the 1 SLAPC delivered a detailed apprise on the current undertakings of the battalion enabling the authority and its under command hierarchy for arriving solutions to their concerns.

Heading to the core feature of the day’s itinerary, the Deputy Commandant addressed the troops emphasizing the inculcation of combat discipline for preventing drug addiction and unethical behavior that tarnish the Army’s reputation. Further, he stressed the importance of sincere engagement in functioning process of the establishment with military excellence intensively upholding the Army’s traditions with loyalty, integrity, commitments and professionalism.

The Deputy Commandant concluded his visit with a complimentary remark in the Visitors’ Book, commending their standards and incorporation in functional and administrative domains towards achieving the desired establishment’s aims and objectives.

The visit was attended by Brigadier H K L J Perera WWV RWP RSP - the Brigade Commander of the 612 Infantry Brigade , Colonel A R D De Silva KSP - the Coordinating Officer of the Sri Lanka Rifle Corps and the Sri Lanka Army Pioneer Corps, Colonel K N Silva - the Colonel Coordinating Officer of the Security Forces Headquarters (West) , Lieutenant Colonel W L D L A Perera psc - the Commanding Officer of the 2nd Battalion of the SLAPC, Senior Officers, Officers, and Other Ranks representing the Headquarters SLAVF and the SLAPC.
