SOLDIERS EDUCATE TO EXPEDITE LEGAL PROCEDURES

The first training day lecture of the final quarter of the 2024 was conducted with the guidance of Major General B K G M L Rodrigo RSP psc IG the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force at the Multifunctional Hall on 02 October 2024.

The lecture was conducted by Major M S Jayawickrama SLAGSC who has been performing duties as the Staff Officer 2 (Legal) in the Headquarters SLAVF.

The lecture was designed to widen the knowledge on expedition the courts of inquiry proceedings to avoid delaying jurisdiction since the prolonged delay in legal proceedings in the Army affected for the career progression of the all ranks.

During the lecture he has elaborated the extensive time gap between the initiation of cases and their conclusion. Delays of such magnitude expose witnesses and evidence to unforeseen variables, including the passage of time, changes in working location, and even the death of witnesses. These factors are effected to jeopardize the integrity of the judicial process of the Army and career progression of the military personnel. Hence, he has mentioned the methods to expedite the legal formalities by minimizing such occurrences

The training programme was closely supervised by Major General W G P Sisira Kumara RSP, the Deputy Commandant SLAVF and gathering of senior officers, officers and other ranks presented the lecture.
