THE VOLUNTEER FORCE OBSERVES RELIGIOUS CEREMONIES ON POSON POYA DAY

On account of the Poson Poya Day, the Volunteer Force observed religious ceremonies organized by the Buddhist Association of the Sri Lanka Army at the Sri Maha Bodhirajaramaya, Panagoda.

The Buddhist Association of the Sri Lanka Army is an active drive that engages in religious activities on illuminating a lasting imprint of the Sri Lanka Army. As one of the prime events, “Sila Samadhi Programme” is organized on poya days in every month.

Retired senior officers, officers, serving Army personnel, civil devotees living in and around the areas observed “Sil”, and were offered “Gilanpasa” and “Alms” by the Volunteer Force in coordination with Sri Lanka National Guard. Venerable Theros of Maha Sanga, delivered sermons on the contemporary concerns. Approximately, 1700 devotees joined the programme.

Civilians gathered with Osu Pan Dansala that took place during the evening of the day.

Major General WGP Sisira Kumara RSP - Deputy Commandant Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, the Principal Staff Officer, Brigadier Administration, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of the Headquarters Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force attended the event.
