THE VOLUNTEER FORCE HONOURS NEWLY PROMOTED COLONEL NHJ MANGALA

Colonel NHJ Mangala adorned with the rank insignia with the promotion to the rank of Brigadier in the Volunteer Force of the Sri Lanka Army with effect from 18 May 2024.

Brigadier Jagath Mangala was blessed to receive acceptance of courtesies from Lieutenant General HLVM Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel of the Regiment of the Sri Lanka National Guard.

Major General S R B Aluvihare RWP RSP ndu psc, the Commandant (Overlooking) of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, Commander of the Security Forces (Central) and Colonel of the Regiment of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment extended his warm greetings upon his rank elevation.

Brigadier Jagath Mangala enlisted in the Volunteer Force under the Volunteer Intake 15 on 23 January 1991, and he is an alumnus of the Sri Lanka Military Academy, Diyatalawa. The senior officer has counted for 33 years of active service, and served nearly 21 years in operational areas out of the total service in the Sri Lanka Army. The senior officer belongs to the 3rd Battalion of the Sri Lanka National Guard and currently, he is performing duties as the Recruiting Officer of the Headquarters SLAVF.

The senior officer has been awarded with “Desha Puthra Sammanaya" for sustaining serious injuries while facing terrorist attacks in the rank of Captain during a limited operation in Welikanda. In the course of his military career, he has performed duties and responsibilities in the appointments conferred to the respective ranks.

The senior officer is one of the members of the cadet intakes that founded the Sri Lanka National Guard, and his military career was navigated through loyalty and integrity with commitments urged by the establishment at every instance. The senior officer earns the honour for being the first successor who elevated to the rank of Brigadier groomed by the Sri Lanka National Guard.

The Volunteer Force of the Sri Lanka Army heartily extends its warmth of compliments to Brigadier Jagath Mangala on his well-earned career ascension.
