THE VOLUNTEER FORCE SALUTES THE RETIRING SENIOR OFFICERS

In honour of active contribution to the Sri Lanka Army and this motherland, Brigadier N H J Mangala and Lieutenant Colonel R P R Gamage SLSR who are outstanding military officers, were felicitated at the Headquarters of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) on 21 February 2025 upon their retirement.

Major General D K S K Dolage USP nps psc, the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force awarded the outgoing Senior Officers special mementos for their commendable service to the Sri Lanka Army.

Brigadier N H J Mangala enlisted in the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force on 23 January 1991 as an officer cadet with the Volunteer Intake 15. Upon successful completion of the basic military training at the Sri Lanka Military Academy, Diyatalawa, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant on 07 December 1991 and was posted to the 3 rd Battalion of the Sri Lanka National Guard. The senior officer has counted over 34 years of active service and performed duties in operational and non-operational areas of the country holding key military appointments conferred to the respective ranks in the Sri Lanka Army. Simultaneously, he served as a Regimental Council Member of the Sri Lanka National Guard. Brigadier N H J Mangala who enlisted as a Second Lieutenant has been destined to hold the office of the Centre Commandant being the first officer who groomed by the Sri Lanka National Guard itself.

Lieutenant Colonel R P R Gamage is a remarkable Senior Officer who was groomed by the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment. The Senior Officer enlisted in the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force on 30 June1994 under the Volunteer Intake 21.After completion of the basic military training at the Sri Lanka Military Academy, Diyatalawa, he performed duties in meeting with establishment goals and objectives in the course of above 30 years of active service.

The Sri Lanka Army owes a debt of gratitude to these Senior Officers for their unwavering loyalty and exemplary service. They retired from the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, proudly completing their excursion of duties in uniform for the beloved motherland.

Brigadier B M R J Bandara - the Deputy Commandant (Overlooking) SLAVF and the gathering of Officers conveyed best regards on retirement and wished every success for their future endeavours.
