The finals of the Inter Battalion Cricket Tournament scheduled as a space for fostering sportsmanship while enhancing the spirit de corps of serving members, was successfully concluded on 27 August 2025 at the “Rendezvous Ground”, Headquarters Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force with the gracious presence of Major General K V N P Premaratne RSP USP nps psc, the Commandant SLAVF as the Chief Guest.
This cricket tournament stands as a testament to the essence of volunteering that cultivates a supportive and dynamic working environment through sports and healthy competition.
Preliminarily, ten teams represented respective Security Forces Headquarters competed under league matches and the tournament commenced on 21 August 2025 at the ground of the Regimental Headquarters Sri Lanka Engineers. Over the course of the tournament, each team displayed a remarkable skill reflecting the discipline and teamwork inherent to the military ethos.
The finals of Inter Battalion Cricket Tournament organized as a ten over softball cricket tournament. The team of the 5 (Volunteer) Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (5 (V) SLSR) won the toss and scored 106 runs by 08 wickets in 10 overs. In response, the team of the 17 (Volunteer) Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry (17 (V) SLLI) scored 107 runs in 09 overs, having 04 wickets down. The 17 (V) SLLI was accordingly declared as champions while pushing the 5 (V) SLSR to the runner-up slot.
At the event culmination, the trophies were presented to the winners by the Commandant, SLAVF and the presentation took place amidst enthusiastic cheers from a large crowd of spectators.
