OFFICERS’ TRAINING DAY AIMS TO BROADEN HORIZON

A training day, designed to incorporate physical training, skill-enhancing training events and recreational activities aimed at broadening horizons, was successfully concluded on 11 September 2025 at the Headquarters of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF).

The program was conducted under the guidance and instructions of Major General K V N P Premaratne RSP USP nps psc - the Commandant SLAVF. The event marked a successful blend of discipline and learning reflecting the ongoing commitment of the SLAVF to holistic personnel development.

In a context of the Army heading to proficient, a further phase of the Officers’ Presentation Programme: a timely initiative designed to widening knowledge and professionalism was successfully unfolded as a key sequence of the day. The limelight was designated to Major H K D Jayawardana, Major D M Wijesinghe and Major L S Ranasinghe who have been serving in the Headquarters SLAVF under the topics of ‘Leadership and Leaders’, ‘Creative Thinking in the Workplace’ and ‘Digital Learning and the Future of the Traditional Learning System’ respectively.

Furthering a yet core objective of the training day, a Diners’ Club Interaction: a designated platform for professional enhancement that fosters intellectual insight and shares learning was conducted. The occasion was enriched by the scholarly insights of Mr. Amintha Sugath De Silva who is currently working as the Chief Visionary Officer of the Vision 8 Academy. He delivered an inspirational lecture on the topic: “Importance of Financial Discipline for Officers”.

The occasion was attended by the Commandant, the Principal Staff Officer, Senior Officers and Officers of the Headquarters SLAVF along with the distinguished invitees who represented other establishments of the Sri Lanka Army.
