With an intention of providing a professional platform for career advancements, the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) conducted a two-day training programme for Second in Commands of the volunteer battalions under the guidance of Major General K.V.N.P Premaratne RSP USP nps psc, Commandant of SLAVF, on 23 rd and 24 th October 2025 at the SLAVF Headquarters.
The inaugural session of the workshop commenced with the opening address delivered by the Inspector of Training SLAVF, Brigadier B J Lekamge RSP KSP and he explained the content and the objectives of the workshop.
The initial day of the workshop covered regimental accounts, audit board proceedings, military offences, charge room procedures, court of inquiry regulations, power of soldiers, A & I capital services, handing over and taking over proceedings of the camps.
On the final day of the workshop, the Commandant SLAVF attended for the discussion and shared his hard-earned experiences throughout his military career. Further, he highlighted that the professional training is essential to handle the complex situations and to align the Army's vision.
A special homage is paid to Brigadier (Administration)-SLAVF Brigadier H A Keerthinatha RSP KSP psc, Colonel (Legal ) Colonel B C K Ferdinandez USP, Colonel (Engineer) Lieutenant Colonel H A C K Hettiarachchi, Staff Officer 1(Finance) Major M U I C Gunawardhana psc and Staff Officer 2 (Procurement) Major D M Wijesinghe for generously sharing their knowledge as the resource persons of the workshop.
As a final segment of the day, the participants were awarded with certificates as tokens of appreciation of their commitment, participation and active engagement for the workshop.
