The Sri Lanka Army has a moral obligation to raise awareness and educate soldiers on timely important topics that would assist for them to spend ordinary life styles. By identifying the importance on prevent addictions, the training day lecture wasconducted on Addiction Management with a view of educating soldiers under the guidance of Major General A H L G Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, the Commandant (Overlooking) SLAVF.
The lecture was delivered by Major Gihan Hewanayake SLNG , who is performing as the Second in Command of 8 Sri Lanka National Guard at Multi- Functional Hall on 5th February 2025. During his lecture, he explained that addiction can significantly impact our health, relationships and overall quality of life. Further, he highlighted that signs of addiction and steps can take to reduce risk of developing an addiction.
The lecture on the training day conducted under the close supervision of Brigadier B M R J Bandara, the Deputy Commandant (Overlooking) SLAVF. The lecture was attended by more than 200 army personnels including officers and other ranks of the Headquarters.
