THE COMMANDER OF THE SECURITY FORCES (WEST) AND COMMANDANT (OVERLOOKING) OF THE SRI LANKA ARMY VOLUNTEER FORCE (SLAVF) PAYS A VISIT TO THE HEADQUARTERS SLAVF

Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, the Commander of the Security Forces (West) and Commandant (Overlooking) of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF), made his maiden visit to the Volunteer Force Headquarters on Monday (5th).

Upon arrival, the senior officer was welcomed by Brigadier B. M. R. J. Bandara, the Deputy Commandant (Overlooking), along with Brigadier A. M. C. Abeykoon RWP RSP USP, the Principal Staff Officer, and the Commanding Officer of the Headquarters Battalion.

In a solemn gesture of respect, Major General Lanka Amarapala laid a wreath at the memorial of the late Captain Saliya Aladeniya, PWV, honoring the war heroes who sacrificed their lives to safeguard the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the nation.

The senior officer then participated in administrative formalities related to his responsibilities in the office of the Commandant of the Volunteer Force, amidst the blessings and compliments of the gathering. Addressing the troops, he emphasized the historical significance of the Volunteer Force as the oldest military establishment in the Sri Lanka Army and praised the enduring spirit of volunteering as a source of national pride.

In particular, Major General Lanka Amarapala encouraged the troops to actively support integration in the vision of the Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP psc IG, the Commander of the Army for realizing the concept of ‘Clean Sri Lanka’ declared by His Excellency the President of Sri Lanka, Anura Kumara Disanayaka that aiming to foster a sustainable future of the nation through transformative positive attitudes, ethical mind and committed service. Concluding the visit, he addressed the officers, providing valuable insights and perspectives to guide the Volunteer Force in building a resilient and future-ready organization.
