Major General K V N P Premaratne RSP USP nps psc, the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) paid official field visits to 2 Sri Lanka Army Pioneer Corps (2 SLAPC) and 10 Sri Lanka National Guard (10 SLNG) which are under command to the Security Forces Headquarters (West), on 4ththSeptember 2025.
The visits were scheduled with the objective of enhancing and streamlining the administrative and operational functions of both battalions.
In the morning hours on the day, the Commandant SLAVF arrived to 2 SLAPC and he was warmly welcomed by Lt Col R W L D L A Perera psc CR , the Commanding Officer of the 2 SLAPC.
Following the initial formalities, next session dedicated for a constructive briefing. Accordingly, the Commanding Officer of the 2 SLAPC briefed on the current undertakings of the battalion.
Heading to the key feature of the day’s schedule, the Commandant addressed the troops emphasizing the inculcation of combat discipline for preventing drug addiction and unethical behavior that tarnish the Army’s reputation. Further, he stressed the importance of sincere engagement in functioning process of the establishment with military excellence intensively upholding the Army’s traditions with loyalty, integrity, commitments and professionalism.
Later, the Commandant SLAVF visited the camp premises and posed for a group photograph with the troops of the battalion to mark his visit.
Thereafter, the Commandant SLAVF concluded his visit of 2 SLAPC after leaving a complimentary note in the Visitor’s Book of the battalion, commending it standards and contributions to the nation. The occasion was attended by senior officers, officers, and other ranks representing the SLAVF and the 2 SLAPC.
In compliance with the day’s itinerary, the Commandant SLAVF paid a courtesy visit to 10 SLNG in the evening hours. Upon the arrival of the Commandant to the 10 SLNG, he was warmly received by Major S E J C Hemasingha, the Commanding Officer of 10 SLNG.
Later on, the Commandant SLAVF attended the scheduled briefing conducted by the Commanding Officer of 10 SLNG on the present undertakings and operational activities.
While addressing the troops, the Commandant emphasized on well integration of the functions in the battalion in all aspects, and conveyed his gratitude and appreciation for shouldering the duties and responsibilities committed by the serving members. Further, he emphasized the importance of aligning with the vision of “Clean Sri Lanka” initiative set forth by the government, which is being revitalized under the leadership of the Commander of the Army.
Afterwards, the senior officer posed for a group photograph together with senior officers and all ranks of 10 SLNG and inspected the accommodation and facilities during the visit.
The visit concluded with an all-rank tea and the occasion was attended by senior officers, officers, and other ranks representing the SLAVF and the 10 SLNG.
