Major General K V N P Premaratne RSP USP nps psc, the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) paid an official field visit to further military establishments under the area of responsibility of the 24 Infantry Division which is under the command of the Security Forces Headquarters (East), on 25 July 2025.
schedule of visit by the Commandant SLAVF serves as a key component that assures a healthy establishment atmosphere, and it is primarily intended to assess effectiveness and efficiency of the battalions’ operational and administrative standards.
Accordingly, the inspection encompassed an overview of the 8 Sri Lanka National Guard (8 SLNG) and the 11 Sri Lanka National Guard (11 SLNG) which have been rendering a precise duty for the establishment.
Upon arrival, the Commandant SLAVF was accorded military honours of Guard Turnout / Drive Past salutation at the respective battalions. In compliance with the day’s itinerary, the Commandant SLAVF attended the scheduled briefings conducted by the Commanding Officers on the current undertakings and operational activities.
The key sequence of the address by the Commandant SLAVF mainly highlighted the significant standpoints that guided and encouraged participants in forming their duty bound perspectives to reflect. The Commandant SLAVF focused on the defined role of a soldier, highlighting his duties, responsibilities, and accountability within the military and civil contexts while being an exemplification in all aspects as desired by this nation.
His remarks particularly was a call to action aligning with the vision of “Clean Sri Lanka” initiative set forth by the government, which is being revitalized under the leadership of the Commander of the Army.
As a symbol of his overview for future active engagements in his authority, the Commandant SLAVF planted saplings at the camp premises and participated in scheduled military ceremonies conducted in honor of his arrival at the battalions.
The Commandant SLAVF concluded his visit with complimentary remarks in the Visitors’ Books of the respective battalions, commending their standards and contributions to national service.
The event was attended by Brigadier Coordinating Officer of the Security Forces Headquarters (East), Colonel Coordinating Officer (Volunteer), Senior Officers and Officers who represented the Headquarters of the Volunteer Force and the corresponding Volunteer Battalions.
