Major General K V N P Premaratne RSP USP nps psc, the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) undertook an official field visit to key military establishments under the area of responsibility of the 24 Infantry Division which is under the command of the Security Forces Headquarters (East), on 24 July 2025.
In accordance with the scheduled itinerary, the visit commenced with an inspection of the 16 Sri Lanka National Guard (16 SLNG) and followed by a visit to the 11 Volunteer (Battalion) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (11 (V) SLSR).
Following the military formalities, which included the military honour of Guard Turnout, and the Drive Past salutation accorded to the Commandant SLAVF on his arrival to the respective battalions, the scheduled briefings were conducted by the Commanding Officers at the respective battalions on current undertakings and operational activities of their establishments with future overviews.
Addressing the troops, the Commandant emphasized the importance of the Government-led “Clean Sri Lanka” initiative, which seeks to foster a sustainable future through transformative attitudes, ethical values, and committed service. He underscored the critical role of the Sri Lanka Army in supporting and ensuring the success of this national effort under the guidance of the Commander of the Army. Symbolizing the essence of his overview on future engagements in his authority, the Commandant SLAVF planted saplings at the corresponding camp premises, and took part in other military ritual accorded in honour of his arrival at the battalions.
The Commandant concluded his visit with complimentary remarks in the Visitors’ Books of the respective battalions, commending their standards and contributions to national service.
