THE COMMANDANT OF THE SRI LANKA ARMY VOLUNTEER FORCE VISITS THE TRAINING SCHOOL OF THE SRI LANKA ARMY VOLUNTEER FORCE

Major General K V N P Premaratne RSP USP nps psc, the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF), undertook his maiden visit to the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force Training School (SLAVFTS) on 14 November 2025, an institution recognized as the foremost establishment dedicated to shaping and developing all ranks of the Volunteer Force.

Upon his arrival at the Training School, the Commandant was warmly received by Colonel T S B R Fernando, Commandant SLAVFTS, and was accorded a Guard Turnout by the troops of the SLAVFTS.

The visit compiled with military formalities were elegantly fulfilled, and the Commandant was enlightened on the prevailing academic and non-academic functions of the training school by way of an elaborative briefing furnished by the Commandant SLAVFTS.

The Commandant delivered a comprehensive remark to the troops gathered for the occasion and expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Commandant of the SLAVFTS and the staff for their dedicated efforts and contributions as the premier training provider for the betterment of the entire Volunteer Force of the Sri Lanka Army.

The Commandant further emphasized the importance of self-realization in all aspects in order to perform one’s role successfully, both in the military career and in civil life, thereby contributing to an effective working environment. As mutual respect is a fundamental element of military harmony, he reminded all personnel to honour and respect the duties and roles entrusted to others. Moreover, the Commandant underscored the imperative of upholding exemplary military bearing, together with the duties, responsibilities, and accountability that define the profession of arms. The senior officer highlighted the pivotal role of the soldier and the Sri Lanka Army as a whole in contributing to the national aspirations and developmental efforts of the country. He reiterated the need to continuously elevate military stance by nurturing the core essences of military professionalism, discipline, and commitment.

The Commandant concluded his visit with a complimentary remark in the Visitors’ Books of the training school commending its standards and contributions to national service.

The event was attended by the Principal Staff Officer SLAVF, Brigadier Coordinating Officer of the Security Forces Headquarters (Central), Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks representing the Headquarters SLAVF and the SLAVFTS.
