THE COMMANDANT OF THE SRI LANKA ARMY VOLUNTEER FORCE (SLAVF) VISITS THE REGIMENTAL CENTER SRI LANKA NATIONAL GUARD (SLNG)

Major General D K S K Dolage USP nps psc , the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF), paid a formal visit to the regimental centre of the Sri Lanka National Guard which is the centerpiece of the Volunteer Battalions of National Guard (SLNG) at Wehera, Kurunegala, on 15 May 2025..

Upon his arrival, he was warmly received by Brigadier L W S R Wettasinghe, the Centre Commandant of the SLNG. As a mark of respect for the sacrifices of fallen heroes, Major General Kapila Dolage laid a floral wreath at the Fallen War Heroes Monument, honoring the valiant soldiers of this prestigious Regiment. The visit continued to the 9th Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard, Heraliyawala Camp, where the Commandant received a Guard Turnout and a ceremonial Guard of Honour from the Sri Lanka National Guard troops , and he attended the other military formalities aligned with the visit.

Following the initial formalities, the Commanding Officer of the 9th Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard delivered a detailed briefing on the battalion's current undertakings and operational activities. .

The troop address made by Major General Kapila Dolage was a call to action, aligning with the vision “Clean Sri Lanka” initiative set forth by the government, which seeks to foster a sustainable future through transformative attitudes, ethical values, and committed service. The Commandant emphasized discipline as the foundation of military excellence, highlighting the urgent need to combat indiscipline, drug addiction, and unethical behavior that tarnish the Army’s reputation. The Commandant stressed the importance of genuine engagement of the respective authorities to assess the well-being of serving members and address their concerns while upholding the Army’s traditions with integrity and professionalism. Further, he urged officers to take proactive steps to improve personal and professional conduct, thereby contributing to the nation’s progress and fostering broader societal change..

Major General Kapila Dolage encouraged officers to lead by example, foster a culture of mutual respect, and inspire their teams to contribute positively to the nation’s progress. The Commandant’s address powerfully reminded the country of the critical role played by the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force in shaping a disciplined, sustainable, and ethical future. It challenged and inspired all officers to rise to their responsibilities with honor and dedication. .
