Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, Commandant (Overlooking) of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, visited the 2 nd (Volunteer) Battalion of the Gajaba Regiment (2 (V) GR) on 17 th January, to enhance and streamline the administrative and operational functions within the battalion.
Major General Lanka Amarapalawas accorded a drive-past salutation by the troops of the Gajaba Regiment and warmly welcomed by Lieutenant Colonel Kapila Dharmadasa, the Commanding Officer of the 2 (V) GR. Following the initial formalities, the Commanding Officer delivered a detailed briefing on the battalion's current undertakings and operational activities.
During an interactive session, Major General Lanka Amarapala emphasized the importance of aligning with the Sri Lankan Government’s “Clean Sri Lanka” initiative, which is a key vision of the Commander of the Army. He highlighted the necessity of the initiative, which aims to promote a sustainable future through transformative attitudes, ethical values, and dedicated service. He also underscored the significance of fostering harmony and reconciliation within the area of responsibility while upholding a disciplined and structured military presence.
To commemorate his visit, Major General Lanka Amarapala recorded his appreciation in the Visitors’ Book. The occasion was attended by senior officers, officers, and other ranks representing the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force and the 2 (V) GR.
