CLAIMING TO THE CONTEMPORARY THREATS: CYBER SECURITY

Coincide with the training day of the week, an insightful lecture on Cyber Security was conducted under the directions of Major General D K S K Dolage USP nps psc, the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) on 05 March 2025 at the Multifunctional Hall.

The audience was orientated with an introductory remark made by Major W H S Soysa, the second-in-command of 12 Sri Lanka Signal Corps. In the wake of a fair comprehension on the topic to the gathering with the initial opening note, the lecture was conducted by Captain W D S Anesta belonging to 12 Sri Lanka Signal Corps who is performing duties as the Officer Commanding of the Emergency Response Squadron.

The primary objective of this lecture was to enlighten the attendees on practical cautions against cyber threats. The lecturer shared authentic cotemporary examples of cyber-attacks, highlighting the sophistication and potential damage of crimes can inflict. Further, the attention was paid for the importance of staying updated with the latest cyber security practices and tools. Cyber security was referred as every aspect of protecting the organization and its employees and assets against cyber threats that is required to be painstakingly adopted by a military establishment. As cyber attacks become more common, sophisticated and corporate networks grow more complex, the significance of a deep awareness wasemphasized on a variety of cyber security solutions that are required to mitigate corporate cyber risk.

The training day programme was closely supervised by Brigadier B M R J Bandara, Deputy Commandant (Overlooking) of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, and gathering of senior officers, officers and other ranks witnessed the lecture.
