SLASC SVB AND 5 SLASC LAUNCHES DONATION PROGRAM FOR PREGNANT LADIES AND ORGANIZES ALMS - GIVING WITH BUDDHIST NUNS

Members of the Sri Lanka Army Service Corps whose wives are pregnant and ready for delivery shortly received basic maternity essentials in an initiative led by Mrs. Maduwanthi Ambanpola, Chairperson of the Sri Lanka Army Service Corps Seva Vanitha Branch.

The event, held on 29 March 2025 at the RHQ SLASC, was graced by the presence of Major General EMGA Ambanpola, Log Commander SF HQ (West) and the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Sevice Corps.

The attending 15 Buddhist Nuns on arrival at the main entrance to the RHQ SLASC were welcomed in accordance with ancient religious rituals and conducted in a colourful Perahera (procession) to the venue. Buddhist flag-bearers, traditional dancing groups and drummers decorated the event as the procession paraded.

Alms, prepared by RHQ SLASC were offered to the clergy by Seva Vanitha chairpersons and pregnant ladies who were present for the occasion. Offer of Pirikara, organized by the SLASC SVB to the nuns culminated the day’s event.

Buddhist Nuns performed religious observances and invoked blessings after the alms-giving for the pregnant ladies.

A gathering of SLASC SVB members, senior officers and other ranks participated in the meritorious event.
