COMPLETION OF A HOUSING PROJECT FOR RETIRED WAR HERO UNDER SLLI SEVA VANITHA INITIATIVE

Under the guidance and direction of the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army and the Colonel of the Regiment – Sri Lanka Light Infantry, Major General Y A B M Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc, and the honourable Chairperson of the SLLI Seva Vanitha Branch, Mrs. Darshani Yahampath, also in collaboration with the SLLI units, has launched an initiative to provide financial assistance and labour contributions for the completion of partially constructed houses of serving ORs and members of the civil staff of the regiment.

As a part this welfare initiative, the construction of the house belonging to S/305953 W II Sarath Kumara HM (Retd) of the 6th Bn SLLI, who was retired on medical grounds, was successfully completed with the financial sponsorship of the SLLI Seva Vanitha Branch and labour support from troops of the 19th Bn SLLI.

The official house-warming ceremony took place on 16 July 2025, under the patronage of the honourable Chairperson of the Seva Vanitha Branch, with the participation of senior members, senior officers and the Commanding Officer Lt Col T R Weerasinghe RWP USP psc SLLI of the respective unit.
