The Poson Full Moon Poya Day marks a deeply significant event in Sri Lankan history as it symbolises the arrival of Arahant Mahinda Thero and his retinue of Dhamma messengers, bearing the sacred teachings of the Gautama Buddha. This historic moment laid the foundation for the flourishing of the Sambuddha Sasana (Buddha’s Dispensation) in Sri Lanka. Through the light of pure Dhamma and new spiritual awakening, the Sri Lankan people were liberated from superstition and guided toward a higher understanding of reality.
In commemoration of this meritorious occasion, the Commander of Security Forces (Jaffna) and Colonel of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI), Major General YABM Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc along with the honourable Chairperson of the Seva Vanitha Branch Mrs. Darshani Yahampath, a sacred Dhamma sermon was held on 06 June 2025 at RHQ SLLI.
The sacred sermon was delivered by the esteemed Kammatthanacharya and Vinayacharya, the Chief Prelate of International Vipassana Meditation Center and We-Uda Dodamtalawa Dhammagiri Forest Monastery, the Most Venerable Ududumbara Kashyapa Thero. This spiritually enriching discourse was attended by the President and former Presidents of the SLLI Seva Vanitha Branch, senior members, Senior Officers, Officers of the SLLI Regiment, family members of Officers and Other ranks of SLLI and other ranks of Other regiments in Army Cantoment Panagoda.
