Sri Lanka Light Infantry Celebrates New Year on Grand Scale
Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment organized a traditional festival for the Sinhala and Tamil New Year – 2025 on 11 April 2025 at the Regimental Centre , Panagoda with the participation of serving members and their families. The Commander Security Forces Jaffna and the Colonel of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Light Infantry Major General YABM Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc graced the occasion as the chief guest with the President of Seva Vanitha Branch, Sri Lanka Light Infantry Mrs. Darshani Yahampath.
The day began with the chief guest and other invitees lighting the traditional oil lamp. Following this, the Chief Guests and other distinguished guests toured
various thematic locations in the premises, thoughtfully arranged to recreate a traditional village atmosphere. The celebration came alive with a vibrant mix of tradition and entertainment, featuring various cultural games and activities.
At the end of the festival, valuable and memorable gifts were gave away to the winners in different events and competitions by adding an extra layer of excitement to the celebrations. The ‘Soorya Mangalyaya 2025’ at Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment Centre was more than just an event it was a celebration of unity, tradition and shared values that bind the military community together.
