SLLI SEVA VANITHA REWARDS WAR HEROE AND CIVIL STAFF
Under the guidance and direction of the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel of the Regiment SLLI, Major General Y A B M Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc, and the Honorary President of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry Seva Vanitha Branch, Mrs. Darshani Yahampath a welfare programme is being initiated to uplift the living standards of the other ranks and civil staff servring in SLLI regiment, under the initiative a selected war heroe and civil staff members were provided financial assistance on 05 November 2025 at the Regimental Centre lecture hall, in line with the 144th Regimental Anniversary celebrations.
During the programme, Rs 300,000 was donated to completion of the partially built house of S/12069 late Sgt H D Jayaweera (Retd) RWP RSP. In addition, Rs 100,000 was provided to Civil Staff Member W V K Weerasinghe of the Regimental Centre for the construction of a bathroom facility, while a further Rs 100,000 was donated to Civil Staff Member AGL Priyashantha of 8 SLLI for the construction of a retaining side wall to prevent landslide-related damage to his residential land.
The Honorary President of the SLLI Seva Vanitha Branch, Other Senior members, the Centre Commandant, Staff officers and Other Ranks of the Regiment were present for the occasion.
