In line with the 144th Regimental Anniversary day series of religious offerings were held at the historic Kelaniya Rajamaha Viharaya on 18th October 2025 to honour and remembrance the fallen war heroes of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) Regiment who made the supreme sacrifice in safeguarding the nation during the thirty years long terrorist conflict.
The event was organized under the guidance of the Deputy Chief of Staff (DCOS) of the Sri Lanka Army and the Colonel of the Regiment of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry, Major General YABM Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc, together with the Honourable President of the SLLI Seva Vanitha Branch (SVB), Mrs. Darshani Yahampath.
The ceremony aimed to transfer merits to all fallen war heroes, pray for the speedy recovery of those receiving treatments residentially at rehabilitation centers, and invoke blessings for the health, happiness and prosperity to the Colonel of the Regiment, all Officers, ORs, Civil Staff and their families. The serene Bodhi Puja ceremony was conducted at the temple premises after reverently spreading white sand around the Bo tree at its hallowed sand garden as a religious offering.
The DCOS and the Colonel of the Regiment of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry, the President and senior members of the SVB – SLLI, the Centre Commandant and Staff Officers of RHQ SLLI and the Commanding Officer along with all ranks of the 2 (V) SLLI attended the religious observances.
