Major General C S Thibbotuge, Director General (Administration) of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University Hospital who promoted to the rank of Major General after rendering a valuable service to the Sri Lanka Army as well as to the motherland was felicitated at the Regimental Centre Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment Ambepussa on 25 October 2025.
According to military traditions, Deputy Centre Commandant RC SLSR, welcomed the Chief Guest and invited him to review the Guard Turnout at the main entrance. Afterwards, he was accompanied by Brigadier H A I Perera RWP RSP USP ndc, Centre Commandant of RC SLSR to receive the salute of the Guard of Honour. After a while, he was invited to plant a sapling to mark the significant day.
Afterwards, a floral tribute was paid at the War Heroes Monument in memory of all valiant Officers and Other Ranks of the SLSR who made the supreme sacrifice for the motherland.
Later in the day, he has joined all ranks tea for refreshments where he shared a few thoughts with the attendees.
The event also textured with a lunch hosted in honour of the newly promoted Major General Chaminda Thibbotuge by all Officers at the Officers’ Mess. A special memento was presented to Major General C S Thibbotuge, by Major General J K R Jayakody RWP USP, Deputy Commander of Security Forces West and Colonel of the Regiment of SLSR in honour of the well-deserved promotion to the prestigious position of Major General during the occasion.
