A vibrant celebration marked the 68th anniversary of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment on 01 October 2024, coinciding with the felicitation ceremony for the newly appointed Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army, Major General W P A D W Nanayakkara RSP VSV USP ndu. This significant occasion was steeped in military traditions, customs, and ethics, reflecting the pride and honor of the Regiment.
As the first segment of the ceremony, Chief Guest was warmheartedly welcomed by the Deputy Centre Commandant, Colonel C N Kathriarachchi RWP on his arrival to the Regimental Headquarters and greeted him with a colourful 'Guard Turnout' at the Main Entrance.
Then after, he received the salute presented by SLSR troops at the parade square. The charming and dignified ceremonial parade was reviewed by the newly appointed Chief of Staff and was accompanied by the Parade Commander together with Brigadier C S Thibbotuge, Centre Commandant RC SLSR following the military traditions. The chief guest has addressed the assembly, sharing his insights during the parade.
Later, the Chief Guest was invited to plant a sapling in memory of this significant occasion and which followed by a floral tribute for the War Heroes Monument in memory of all valiant Officers and Other Ranks of the SLSR who made the supreme sacrifice for the motherland.
For the culmination of the day’s agenda, Major General Dinesh Nanayakkara RSP VSV USP ndu, Chief of Staff of Sri Lanka Army and the Colonel of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment was also invited to share refreshments and an All-Rank lunch organized at the Other Ranks’ Mess in the day’s agenda.
Council Members, Centre Commandant, Deputy Centre Commandant, Senior officers, Commanding Officers, a gathering of Officers and Other Rankers were present at the event.
