Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) bade formal farewell to the retiring Brigadier M.G.W Wimalasena RSP and Brigadier A.M.S.D.B Adikari RSP after dedicating over 33 years and 31 years of invaluable service to the organization, respectively in a fitting ceremony which took place on 14 December 2023 at Regimental Centre, Ambepussa.
Accordingly, the formalities observed at the Regimental Headquarters of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment included a Guard Turnout which was accorded by the Army troops attached to the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment soon after the retiring Brigadiers arrived at the entrance in keeping with the military traditions.
After a while, the retiring Brigadiers were saluted in a ceremonial parade and watched by a representative gathering of Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks. Subsequently, they made a floral tribute to the SLSR War Heroes’ monument and saluted the memory of fallen War Heroes as a part of the day's agenda.
Later on, the retiring Senior Officers joined the All Rank tea. Afterward, they gathered for a group photo, followed by a formal lunch reception.
On the very occasion, a special mementos were presented to the outgoing Brigadier M.G.W Wimalasena RSP and Brigadier A.M.S.D.B Adikari RSP by Major General U.D Wijesekara RWP RSP USP rcds psc, Commandant Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force and Colonel of the Regiment SLSR as a symbolic appreciation of their dedicated and committed services rendered to the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment.
The retiring Senior Officers spoke to all Officers gathered there and expressed his gratitude for the assistance and the support given by all in carrying out his duties as a member of the ‘Sinha’ family.
Meanwhile, Chairperson, Seva Vanitha Branch of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, Mrs Shyamali Wijesekara awarded a special memento to Mrs. Jeewani Guruge and Mrs. Chithra Kumari Ranasinghe. Senior Officers and Regimental Council members and batch mates of the outgoing Senior Officers, Staff Officers, Officers of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment and their spouses attended the event.
