A Special tree planting campaign was held at Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) Regimental Headquarters in Ambepussa last 7th December in association with the Gateway International School Negombo and with the presence of Brigadier Nishantha Muthumala, Centre Commandant, and SLSR.
The program was organized by the Gateway International School Negambo and coincides with its 25th anniversary under theme of ‘Each one Plant one’. 1500 coconut saplings and 1000 mango saplings were donated to the SLSR regiment center during the program and symbolically 50 mango and coconut saplings were planted at the camp premises with the participation of school students and teachers.
Major General Priyantha Jayawardena, Quarter Master General and Colonel of the Regiment SLSR provided necessary instructions to carry out the program in parallel with Army’s ongoing green agricultural drive to enhance the economy and food security in the country.
