In line with 66 Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment a soft ball cricket tournament was organized among battalions of SLSR and the final match of the softball cricket tournament was held on 27 October 2022 at 3 (V) VIR Cricket Ground - Pudukudiirippu.
General Officer Commanding of 68 Infantry Division and Chairman of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment Cricket Committee Major General RW Ponnamperama RSP psc, was the chief guest for the final match and the closing ceremony, while Center Commandant Brigadier MPNA Muthumala USP psc, senior officers, officers and other rankers of the Sinha Regiment has been participated in this event.
Representing 17 Sinha Battalions, 17 softball cricket teams were participated in this tournament, which was held with the aim of selecting new players for the Sinha Regiment Cricket Team. There were 10 matches in the preliminary round under 4 groups and out of those matches 8 teams were selected for the Super 8 round. They played 12 matches in the league system, under 02 groups and selected 4 teams for the semi - final matches. Finally 6 SLSR and 3 (V) SLSR has been qualified for the finals and 3 (V) SLSR was the Champions in the tournament whereas 6 SLSR became the Runners up.
The Chief Guest distributed trophies, certificates and medals to the winners of the tournament and appreciated the performance of the players and congratulated them.
