THE TROOPS OF 6 SLSR SHINE IN THE SFHQ-MLT FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT

There had been tournaments of Cricket, Volleyball, and Football, that could further boost understanding and service ties between Officers and Other Ranks serving in all establishments including training schools under the Security Force Headquarters-Mulativ (SFHQ-MLT) from 1st to 13th of August 2022 and were held at 6 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment ground in Mulativ under the conceptual guidance of Major General Sanjaya Wanasinghe, Commander, SF-MLT.

Brigadier Chandimal Peiris, General Officer Commanding of the 57 Division took the responsibility of organizing the tournament in order to further promote sports skills and build up better ties among the Officers and the ranks at battalion levels. In the Cricket tournament, held from 01st August 2022 to 03rd August 2022, the Championship trophy was awarded to the enthusiastic players of the cricket team of the 9 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment. The players of the 6 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment became the runners-up.

The players of the 9 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment were also able to secure the Championship trophy of the Volleyball tournament continued from 04th to 07th August 2022. 7 Sri Lanka Light Infantry players carried the runners-up slot. Meanwhile, in the Football tournament after a neck-to-neck tussle, the Championship trophy was given to 6 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment players.

As the Chief Guest, Major General Sanjaya Wanasinghe, Commander, SF-MLT witnessed the finals and the awarding ceremony at the invitation of Brigadier Chandimal Peiris, General Officer Commanding 57 Division. Trophies, cups, and certificates were distributed to the winners amidst the roars of applause.

Brigadier Chandimal Peiris, General Officer Commanding, 57 Division, Brigadier Charith Dissanayake Brigadier Administration and Quartering-Security Forces Headquarters-Mulativ, Brigadier Chaminda Gamlath, Brigade Commander 571 Division, Brigadier Ramith Prasanna, Brigade Commander 573 Brigade, Colonel Illantha Ranathunga, Colonel General Staff of the 57 Division, and Colonel Niranjan De Silva, Colonel Administration and Quartering of the 57 Division were among those who witnessed the day’s finals.
