RC SLSR Bids Farewell to Retiring Major General Lalith Rathnayake

Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment bade farewell to one of its outgoing Senior Officers, Major General Lalith Rathnayake, former General Officer Commanding 51 Division on 10th October 2020 upon his retirement from the Regular Force of the Sri Lanka Army after a reputed service of more than 35 years.

Major General Lalith Rathnayake has served the Sri Lanka Army and the Nation by holding numerous commanding appointments and staff appointments in different parts of the country. The farewell commenced on arrival of the day’s Chief Guest saluted with a ceremonial Guard Turnout, followed by a Guard of Honour together with the regimental truncheon at the parade ground.

Subsequently, he joined a floral tribute to the fallen SLSR war heroes who sacrificed their lives for the sovereignty of mother land at the SLSR War Heroes' monument together with Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks.

The day’s event also included an all rank tea arrangement at the Warrant Officers’ and Sergeants’ Mess and a customary photograph at the Officers’ Mess.

The programme of events culminated with the customary a ‘Guest Night’ hosted for Major General Lalith Rathnayake & Mrs Thushari Manjula Rathnayake by Senior Officers, Officers and their Spouses in the Regimental Officers’ Mess.

Major General Lalith Rathnayake & his Spouse on arrival at the premises was received by Major General Hemantha Bandara, Colonel of the Regiment SLSR and General Officer Commanding 12 Division and Mrs Shiromi Bandara, President SLSR-SVU.
