Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) on Saturday 05th September 2020 in a fitting goodbye ceremony at the Regimental Centre in Ambepussa farewell one of its exemplary Senior Officers, Major General Jayantha Seneviratne, Colonel of the Regiment, SLSR and Commander Security Force (West) retired from the Army after a distinguished career of more than 35 years of service.
On arrival at the Regimental Centre Major General Jayantha Seneviratne was warmly welcomed near the Truncheon house by Colonel Dulith Perera, Deputy Centre Commandant and invited to review the Guard Turnout.
Later, Centre Commandant, Brigadier Dammika Dissanayake welcomed the Chief Gust at the Parade ground and accompanied to the salute of the proud, dignified military parade presented by troops of SLSR.
After the tree planting, the Colonel of the Regiment paid floral tributes to the SLSR War Heroes' monument and joined all ranks for refreshments at the Warrant Officers’ and Sergeants’ Mess where he shared a few thoughts with the attendees. He also signed a few documents in respect of his relinquishment of the appointment in the office.
Later in the day, he was hosted to a formal dinner at the Regimental Officers’ Mess in accordance with military traditions where the departing Senior Officer was presented with a special memento before he delivered his farewell speech to the gathering.
