Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment bade farewell to its former Colonel of the Regiment Major General Manoj Mudannayke and its senior officer Major General Laksiri Waduge in view of their retirement after completion of over 35 years of successful service in the Sri Lanka Army. The traditional event unfolded on 15 August 2020 at Regimental Centre, Ambepussa with the participation of a limited number of senior officers, distinguish guest, officers and other ranks due to Government rules and regulations over Covid-19 pandemic situation.
On arrival to the Regimental Centre Major General Manoj Mudannayake was warmly welcomed near the Truncheon house by Colonel Dulith Perera, Deputy Centre Commandant and invited to review the Guard Turnout.
Later, Centre Commandant, Brigadier Dammika Dissanayake welcomed the Chief Gust at the Parade ground and accompanied to the salute of the proud, dignified military parade.
Similarly, Major General Laksiri Waduge also warmly welcomed near the Truncheon house by Deputy Centre Commandant and invited to review the Guard Turnout. After a while, Centre Commandant welcomed the Chief Gust at the Parade ground and accompanied to the salute of the Guard of honour.
The commencement of the ceremony followed by paying obeisance to the fallen war heroes who made supreme sacrifice to the motherland by laying a floral wreath at the Regimental Monument. Subsequently, all Ranks Tea was organized at the Warrant Officers and Sgt Mess RC SLSR.
A farewell dinner hosted in honour of the former Colonel of the Regiment and the retired Major General Laksiri Waduge by all Officers of the Regiment at the Officers’ Mess.
Afterward, special mementos were presented to Major General Manoj Mudannayake and Major General Laksiri Waduge by Colonel of the Regiment, in appreciating of dedicated and committed services rendered to the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment.
