DAWN OF NEW YEAR - 2014 GREETED AT RHQ SLSR WITH FORMALITIES & TRADITIONS
First working day of the New Year - 2014 on Wednesday (1) held customary ceremony at RHQ SLSR Ambepussa amid military formalities and traditions.
Brig BAL Rathnayake, Centre Commandant gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest, gave the pride of prominence to the country and hoisted the National Flag while Col PASP Wijayagunathilake, Chief of Staff simultaneously raised the Army flag to be in line with military formalities. National Anthem, Army Song ‘Sagarayen Wata - Me mage Mau Rata’ and the Sinha Regiment Song sung together by all officers and other ranks.
And all of them keep one-minute silence for those who made the supreme sacrifice for the sake of the country.
With indicating vision, New Year Massages of Commander of the Army and Colonel of the Regiment, unfailing duty to serve the public and the State under One country, One nation and One flag was read out by Centre Commandant as is the practice in all island-wide state institutions on the first working day of the New Year.
