BRIGADIER M.A.M. DIAS PROMOTED TO MAJOR GENERAL RANK
Brigadier M.A.M. Dias of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) is currently the General Officer Commanding, 54 Division in Mannar. Having joined the Sri Lanka Army in 1982, he has held a number of appointments.
As a war veteran, he underwent the atrocities of the terrorists while Kilinochchi was under siege for 47 days. He witnessed how the famous Hasalaka Gamini Kularatne War Hero sacrificed his life to defend his camp at Elephant Pass since he was serving the area at that time.
He enlisted to the Army on 24 May 1982 and received commissions on 14 January 1984 as a member of the Intake 17 at Sri Lanka Military Academy, Diyatalawa.
