Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment commemorated fallen War Heroes at Ambepussa on 27th October 2012, giving pride of place to next of kin and children of Sinha War Heroes.\r\n\r\nLieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, Commander of the Army attended the occasion as the Chief Guest on the invitation of Major General Boniface Perera Colonel of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment. The event, organized for the 23rd consecutive year, paid floral tributes to the SLSR memorial at the premises and transferred merits to 143 officers and 3719 other rankers who made the supreme sacrifice while defending the country’s territorial integrity.\r\n\r\nAt the same occasion, SLSR troops made a symbolic cash donation of Rs 2 million towards the Brave Hearts project, engaged in the Abimansala construction at Kamburupitiya. The cheque to this effect was presented to the Commander by the Colonel of the Regiment.\r\n\r\nAnother significant event of the day was the unveiling of the photograph of Lance Corporal Abeyratna Banda who was the third member of Sinha Regiment to be awarded with Parama Weera Vibushanaya. After the event held at the Regimental Museum gift parcels were given to disabled soldiers.\r\n\r\nAn overnight Pirith was held followed by an alms giving on the 28th morning.
