On 6th February 2009 troops infiltrated and launched an attack on Radha Base which was a stronghold of the terrorists. While the terrorists’ base was destroyed a large amount of munitions and other sophisticated equipment were recovered.
Arms and ammunition captured from the LTTE
The prison complex run by the terrorists at Vishwamadu was also captured by troops of the Battalion. Following victories in battle against enemy in the Vishwamadu, Thunkkai, Kilinochchi, Iranamadu, Dhramapuram and Mullaitivu were able to recover a huge amount of arms and ammunition dumped by the fleeing terrorists.

During the conduct of the 'Humanitarian Operation' the Battalion lost (killed) 2 officers and 28 soldiers while an officer and 124 soldiers received injuries.
With the successfully completion of 'Humanitarian Operation' on 5th June 2009 the Battalion was placed under command to the 632 Brigade and engaged in search and clear operation in areas of Oddusudan, Kulamsuddan and Karappakutti. Later, on 1st August 2009 the Battalion deployed under 561 Brigade in Karappakutti to be engaged in work related to the resettlement of persons affected by the war.
Resettlement of displaced civilians
On 12th March 2010, Lieutenant Colonel DMPD Disanayake handed over command to Lieutenant Colonel PASP Wijayagunathilaka.
On 10th April 2010 the Battalion now entrusted with task of resettling civilians who were displaced during the 'Humanitarian Operation', initially engaged in the task of clearing mines.
