Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) bade farewell to Retiring Major General Randula Hathnagoda, former General Officer Commanding 64 Division, during a formal farewell ceremony held at the Regimental Centre in Ambepussa on Sunday (20) September 2020.
The day's event commenced with a ceremonial Guard Turnout, followed by a Guard of Honour salute, together with the regimental truncheon at the parade ground. Colonel Dulith Perera, Deputy Centre Commandant SLSR receives him near the ‘Truncheon’ house. Later, Brigadier Dammika Dissanayake, Centre Commandant Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment received him at the Parade Ground. The retiring SLSR veteran addressed the troops and recalled his yesteryear memories.
Subsequently, he joined a floral tribute to the fallen SLSR war heroes who sacrificed their lives for the sovereignty of mother land at the SLSR War Heroes' monument together with Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks.
The day’s event also included an all rank tea arrangement at the Warrant Officers’ and Sergeants’ Mess.
The programme of events culminated with the customary a ‘Guest Night’ hosted for Major General Randula Hathnagoda & Mrs Asha Manohari Wijerathne by Senior Officers, Officers and their Spouses in the Regimental Officers’ Mess.
Major General Randula Hathnagoda on arrival at the premises was received by Major General Hemantha Bandara, Colonel of the Regiment SLSR and General Officer Commanding 61 Division.
