Troops of SLSR bade Farewell to Retiring Major General Palitha Fernando at RC SLSR Ambepussa

Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) bade farewell to Retiring Major General Palitha Prasana Fernando former General Officer Commanding 61 Division, during a formal farewell ceremony held at the Regimental Centre in Ambepussa on Friday (25) September 2020.

The day’s event commenced with a ceremonial guard turnout, followed by a guard of Honour salute, together with the Regimental Truncheon at the parade grounds Colonel Dulith Perera, Deputy Centre Commandant SLSR received him near the ‘Truncheon’ house. Later, Brigadier Damika Dissanayake, Centre Commandant Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment welcomed him at the parade Grounds. After the parade he addresses the troops and recalled his yesteryears memories.

Subsequently, he joined the floral tribute to the fallen SLSR war heroes who sacrifice their lives for the sovereignty of mother land at the SLSR Ware Heroes’ Monument together with the Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks.

The day’s event also include an all rank tea arrangement at the Warrant Officers’ and Sergeants’ Mess.

The programme of the events culminated with the customary a ‘Guest Night’ hosted for Major General Palitha Fernando & Mrs Renuka Kumari Fernando by Senior Officers, Officers and their Spouses in the Regimental Officers’ Mess

Major General Palitha Prasana Fernando on arrival at the mess was received by Major General Hemantha Bandara, Colonel of the Regiment SLSR and General Officer Commanding 61 Division.
