TRIBUTE TO FALLEN WAR HEROES AT ANNUAL COMMEMORATION CEREMONY 2016
The Regimental Headquarers of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment commemorated fallen war heroes on 24th and 25th of December 2016, giving pride of place to next of kin and children of war heroes.
Hon Minister Field Marshal GSC Fonseka RWP RSP VSV USP rcds psc graced the occasion as the Chief Guest on the invitation of Colonel of the Regiment Maj Gen MHSB Perera RWP RSP USP ndu psc. The event organized for the 28th consecutive year, paid floral tributes to the SLSR memorial at the premises and transferred merits to 143 Officers and 3719 Other Rankers who made supreme sacrifice while defending the country\'s territorial integrity.
Subsequently the Field Marshal also shared a couple of views with the family members of the War Heroes presented and the Field Marshal distributed gifts, seven wheelchairs, seven crutches and one artificial limb among disable war heroes.
In the afternoon, religious services representing Catholic, Hindu and Islamic faiths got underway at separate sacred places in Warakapola & the ceremony was terminated with an overnight Pirith followed by an alms giving ceremony on 25th morning.
Retired Senior SLSR Officers, Senior Serving Officers and enormous Officers and Other Ranks were also participated for the event.
