The Regimental Centre, Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment commemorated fallen war heroes on the 21st and 22nd October 2023, giving pride of place to the families of the fallen heroes. This commemoration was organized with the intention of not letting down the legacy which these heroes left behind and to carry forward the inheritance of the great example which they put forth by making the ultimate sacrifice in the name of their mother nation. As a grateful fraternity of soldiers, Sinha family will salute them and pledged to never forget the sacrifices they made at the highest calling of duty.
Major General Priyantha Jayawardena, The Quarter Master General of the Sri Lanka Army and the Colonel of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment graced the occasion together with senior officers, officers and other ranks of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment. This Memorial Day marked the 31st consecutive year, where Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment hailed and mourned the fallen War heroes. During the event, floral tributes were placed at the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment War memorial and transferred merits to 144 officers and 3720 other rankers who made the supreme sacrifice while defending the country’s territorial integrity.
Subsequently, religious services representing Catholic, Hindu and Islamic faiths got underway at separate sacred places in Warakapola and the ceremony was terminated with an overnight pirith chanting ceremony followed by an alms giving ceremony held on the 22nd Sunday morning.
