The Sinha Regiment on Thursday, 03 January 2019 bid farewell to Major General Haren Perera, Major General Athula de Silva and Major General Athula Hennadige. Three of its proud sons who had rendered an exemplary service to the nation more than three decades during a formal military ceremony at the Regimental Centre, Ambepussa.
Retiring Major Generals were warmly welcomed by the Regimental Centre Commandant Brigadier A P Pallawela RWP RSP, on his arrival on behalf of the Colonel of the Regiment, all Officers and Other Rankers and greeted them by a “Guard Turnout”. Then respectively they took salute at a colourful and dignified Guard of Honour from proud Green Jackets.
Thereafter the three Major Generals paid there tribute to the “Fallen War Hero’s” by placing a floral wreath at the Regimental Monument.
Later, three Major Generals also attended the all ranks tea party at the Sgt’s Mess and day’s programme was concluded with an elegant farewell lunch at the Officers’ Mess. Upon his arrival at the Officers’ Mess, Major General Duminda Keppetiwalana warmly welcomed them for the Colonel of the Regiment.
Major General Duminda Keppetiwalana, during his farewell speech shared his fond memories of Major General Haren Perera, Major General Athula de Silva, Major General Athula Hennadige comrade, paid sincere gratitude for the selfless service rendered to the nation.
