Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) who took part in the 3rd International Pakistan Army Team Spirit (PATS) Competition – 2020 in Pakistan won Silver medal in the competitions held during March 1 - 5.
Chief of Army Staff Pakistan, General Qamar Javed Bajwa was the chief guest at the awarding ceremony. Being one of the toughest military competitions, PATS is aimed at testing survival skills and physical limits of the participants, spread over 62 hours and includes 28 field events.
Apart from teams from the Pakistan Army, PAF, 16 foreign countries including Belarus, China, Egypt, Germany, Indonesia, KSA, Maldives, Palestine, Russia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Turkey, UAE, UK, USA and Uzbekistan participated in the event conducted from March 1 to 4, in challenging terrain at the National Counter Terrorism Center (NCTC) and surrounding areas.
General Qamar Javed Bajwa awarded the medals and prizes among the winners and runners up. Karachi Corps was declared overall best team, Pp Multan Corps runner up and Rawalpindi Corps was placed third. Turkey clinched the gold medal among international teams while KSA, Sri Lanka and South Africa teams were awarded silver medals. The Pakistan Air Force secured a Bronze medal.
Commander Mangla and Gujranwala Corps, senior military officials from Pakistan Army, PAF and Defence Attaches from various countries were present on the occasion.
The NCTC - a state of the art facility with a large capacity to impart quality training to combat terrorism, in all kinds of terrain, has been recognized as a world class facility attracting other armies for training with the Pakistan Army.
