Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment Seva Vanitha Branch organized a special event to distribute school uniforms and scholarships for sons and daughters of SLSR troops and civil staffer’s on 28 May 2023. Mrs. Rani Jayathilake, a former president of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment Seva Vanitha Branch graced as the Chairperson of the programme with the invitation of Mrs. Omila Jayawardena, Chairperson Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment Seva Vanitha Branch.
During day’s programme, 19 students who have scored more than 170 marks from grade five scholarship examination and 6 students who have earned more than 8 “A” passes from Ordinary Level examination were received scholarships.
Simultaneously, 67 students from selected SLSR families includes more than 3 schooling kids were also provided school uniforms school shoes as motivation for their education. Worth of these scholarships and donations is worth of Rs 500000 (Five Lakhs).
In a special gesture, A cheque worth of Rs.400000 (Four Lakhs) was presented to the wife of late Sargent Anura EM PWV to financially support her daughter from abroad on a special request of her mother.
This project was launched under the direction of the Major General Priyantha Jayawardena, Quarter Master General and Colonel of the Regiment SLSR. Mrs. Omila Jayawardena, Chairperson SLSRSVB welcomed the Chief Guest and Mrs. Ashika Thibbotuge secretary SLSRSVB delivered the welcome speech at the venue.
