Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment bid farewell to the former General Officer Commanding of 51 Infantry Division, Major General M P N A Muthumala USP psc on 19 October 2025, who retired after serving more than 35 years in the Regular Force of the Sri Lanka Army. Ceremony was held in its customary way at Regimental Centre, Ambepussa.
According to military traditions, Deputy Centre Commandant RC SLSR, welcomed the Chief Guest and invited him to review the Guard Turnout at the main entrance. Afterwards, he was accompanied by Brigadier H A I Perera RWP RSP USP ndc, Centre Commandant RC SLSR to receive the salute of the Guard of Honour. After a while, he was invited to commemorate the fallen War Heroes at the SLSR war heroes’ monument.
Later in the day, he was joined all ranks for refreshments where he shared a few thoughts with the attendees.
During the ceremony, all Officers and Other Ranks of the Regiment Centre extended their heartfelt gratitude to the outgoing distinguished senior officer for his commitment and dedication to the Sinha Regiment and wished him a healthy, wealthy, peaceful and prosperous life.
At the end, a glamorous guest night was arranged and to recognize his military leadership and unparalleled contribution to the Army, a special memento was presented to the outgoing Major General M P N A Muthumala USP psc, by Major General J K R Jayakody RWP USP, Deputy Commander Security Forces West and the Colonel of the Regiment of SLSR during the formal Dinner. Council members, senior officers, batch mates, retired officers, relatives and friends of the outgoing senior officer attended to the event.
