Fulfilling the expectations of the much enthusiastic and aspiring volleyball players, the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force successfully conducted the Inter Regiment Volleyball Championship – 2019 at Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium – Colombo from 23 to 25 September 2019.
The finals of the men’s Volleyball Championship and prize awarding ceremony of the event took place at Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium on 25 September 2019 with the gracious presence of Commander of the Army Lieutenant General L H S C Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc as the Chief Guest.
The Chief Guest was warmly welcomed by Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force Major General N A Dharmaratne WWV RWP RSP ndu psc and Deputy Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force Major General L F Kasthuriarachchi KSV. Afterwards, the Commandant delivered the speech by welcoming all invitees. Subsequently, the judges and men’s teams of the Volleyball Championship were introduced to the Chief Guest and the competition between Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment and Sri Lanka Light Infantry commenced for men’s Volleyball Championship.
The two teams with enthusiasm and youthful vigour entered the fray bringing much joy to the spectators at the arena. Finally, Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment team emerged an overwhelming victory and championed at the Inter Regiment Volleyball Championship of the year 2019.
